Hike to Tatevi Metz Anapad

Visible from the road to Tatev Monastery, Tatevi Metz Anapad sits deep in the Vorotan gorge; an often overlooked architectural treasure. The complex was built mainly in the 17th century, and many of the buildings have been restored, including the main building, the church of St. Astvatzadzin. The monastery was constructed in the gorge due to the presence of spring water.

The Info Center is happy to connect you with local guides who know the trails extremely well, and who can help choose routes that fit your needs as a hiker. The walk down to the monastery takes about an hour and a half, and after that it is possible to walk along the river towards Devil's Bridge where you can get a ride back up to Tatev Village.
